Filming for ‘Sharknado 5’ confirmed

Filming has begun in the fifth installment of the Sharknado film franchise, and this time the cult movie phenomenon will be international, with filming scheduled to occur in five different countries, SyFy Networks announced this week.

Ian Ziering will reprise his role as noted aerial shark hunter, Fin Shepherd, and Tara Reid will return as love-interest-turned-shark-puncher April Wexler. The movie is set to air this summer on SyFy.

The script, written by Sharknado veteran Scott Mullen, will feature the familiar premise of a tornadic weather phenomenon scooping up the ocean’s apex predators by the hundreds and reigning toothy terror on the land dwellers below. The movie series has become a summertime favorite thanks to its absurd b-movie plot line, over-the-top gore and a plethora of cameos

Anthony Ferrante is back as the director for No. 5 which takes the shark hunting adventure to the United Kingdom, Australia and Eastern Europe.
