The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission announced that it has identified the men in a video of a captured shark being dragged behind a boat off the coast of Florida.
The video, which has been shared thousands of times, shows three men laughing while what appears to be a juvenile blacktip shark is violently dragged behind the boat’s wake.
“We have been alerted to this video. We take this very seriously and are currently investigating this incident,” the FWC said in a release.
One of those reportedly involved was identified on social media as Michael Wenzel. An Instagram account that allegedly belongs to the suspect show other possibly illegal acts such as landed tarpon and molesting pelicans.
