Diver fends off aggressive bull shark on Great Barrier Reef

A Queensland spearfisherman was able to catch a harrowing encounter with an extremely aggressive bull shark on camera.

Kerry Daniel was surfacing after a dive on the Great Barrier Reef last week when the approximately five foot bull shark charged directly at him. He was able to use his spear gun to fend off the attack

According to the Youtube account, Liquid Vision, which originally posted the footage described it as taking place “in North QLD Australia cruising on the edge of a channel at 20m turning then rushing and attacking a spearfisherman mid dive.”

Bulls sharks have been known to display aggressive behaviors and even bite divers and swimmers in the past but this level of aggression is rarely seen in this species.

“We’ve had reef sharks come up to us before, they might take a fish off your line after you shoot it, but nothing like this,” Daniel told Daily Mail Australia.
